Overview & Reviews
Half-ton models now feature standard Hydroboost brakes, a tire-pressure monitoring system and newly styled optional 17-inch aluminum wheels. The trailering package now includes a 7-to-4-pin brake wiring adapter. For added safety, there is now a front passenger seatbelt reminder. Also, a sunroof and rear-seat entertainment system can be ordered together for the first time. Lastly, GMC has lowered the output figures for the Vortec 8100 -- the engine is now rated at 320 horsepower and 440 pound-feet of torque.
- Huge interior space, strong lineup of V8 engines, Quadrasteer four-wheel steering system, extensive list of available features.
- Some cheap interior materials considering the price, questionable build quality.

Lets be honest - 2004 GMC Yukon XL
By TommyO - June 22 - 10:00 amI really like my Yukon XL. But it doesnt show up in the ratings. Its better than the Sequoia/Expedition types because of the cargo space behind the third seat and the ability to tow. I had a 97 Suburban and this new unit is much improved in ride and engine. But its the size coupled with the ease of operation that makes it the king of the road. It remains to be seen if reliability is any better - the Suburban was a little weak, but not so weak I didnt get another GM.

Stole one on Ebay - 2004 GMC Yukon XL
By JDL - November 13 - 5:13 amI bought this truck used for $22K on Ebay in Dec 06 with 42K miles on it. It has nav, DVD, and the sunroof and has run for almost another 40K miles with very few problems. It is powerful, fun to drive, and is great for a family of 5 but drinks gas like crazy. For 22K invested I cant complain.

SUV For All Seasons & Reasons - 2004 GMC Yukon XL
By Jerry G. - October 29 - 10:00 amMy main consideration for purchasing this vehicle was for towing purposes. A recent trip from NJ to Lake George, NY and back to NJ proved that this GMC SUV can handle tough situations, and do it comfortably! Soon after being on the road you almost forget that youre towing a 6,000 Lb boat on a 2,000 Lb trailer. Sharp and hilly curves at the lake was never a problem. My wife loves this Yukon XL, and is now looking forward to driving the SUV this winter. (Fat chance!)...Well, maybe sometimes.

Lots of space for the kids and cargo - 2004 GMC Yukon XL
By mikehw - March 3 - 10:00 amThis SUV just has all what a big family can wish for. There are plenty of cargo space even with 3 row seat in use. It handles very safely, but it takes a little getting use to parking due to the size of this SUV. Gas milage could be better but what can one expect of a SUV this size with a 6L V8. Its very quite even at high speed.

Go to ergonomics school GMC - 2004 GMC Yukon XL
By GMC latest convert - February 23 - 5:33 pmGreat car if a 58" person with no previous back problems can stand the pain of sitting in the drivers seat form more than 20 minutes. Way to go GM, you got my 50K this time, but never again. We have a brand new Denali in the garage, and took the Eddie Bauer Expedition with 100k miles on it to the family christmas gathering cause I cant stand the pain of being in that seat. And Ive never been a Ford or a GMC guy in the past either, I am now.
